From the School Nurse...
COVID Information 9/15/20
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! We are so happy to have the children back for face-to-face instruction. Please keep the following in mind as you begin to send your children back to school.
If any of the following apply to your child, do not send your child to school and notify the nurse ASAP:
•
If your child or anyone that lives in the same household as your child tests positive for COVID-19
•
If your child is exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19
•
If your child is awaiting test results for COVID-19
We ask that you monitor your child for any symptoms prior to school each morning, and if possible, check their temperature.
Please do not send your child to school if they are sick or have the following symptoms:
•
Any one (1) of the following:
Fever, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, new or worsening cough
•
Any two (2) of the following:
Sore throat, muscle or body aches, chills or fatigue, headache, congestion or runny nose, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting
If your child develops any of these symptoms during the school day you will be called immediately to pick up your child. They will be escorted to a waiting room to await your arrival. The child must be picked up in a timely manner.
They will require an evaluation by a health care provider to determine the cause of the symptoms and/or the need for a COVID-19 test. In order to return to school, they will need a medical note from their health care provider stating the condition and when they are allowed to return to school --OR-- a negative COVID (PCR) test. This must be in accordance with the DHEC School Exclusion List. If you cannot supply either a medical note or negative COVID PCR test, your child will be required to isolate for 10 days before returning to school.
I recognize that this is a big change and an abundance of information. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns at (843) 558- 9417. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we strive to keep all our students safe and healthy.
Thank You,
Brittany Smith, BSN, RN
