Pleasant Hill Elementary

Title I Family Engagement Policy


  1. Pleasant Hill Elementary will conduct an annual meeting by which all parents of participating children will be invited and encouraged to attend to inform parents of their school’s participation under Title I and to explain Title I, its requirements, and their right to be involved.
  2. Pleasant Hill Elementary will provide meetings relating to parent involvement. Pleasant Hill Elementary will provide parenting workshops on Family Literacy, Family Math Night, PASS/SC Ready, Virtual/phone conferences will be conducted to relate all academic concerns for parents who are unable to attend school wide programs at their request.
  3. Pleasant Hill Elementary will involve parents in an organized, ongoing and timely way, in the planning, review, and improvement of programs under Title I, including the school parent involvement policy, and the joint development of the school wide program plan in accordance with the school improvement council.
  4. Pleasant Hill Elementary School will build strong parental involvement through:


    1. timely information about Title I programs including but not limited to newsletters, parent tip booklets, and informational videos.
    2. school performance profiles and their child’s individual student assessment results, including and interpretation of such results, for iReady, CoGAT, and PASS/SC Ready.
    3. a description and explanation of the objectives as well as correlation to state standards, the forms of assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency level students are expected to meet through monthly activity calendars, objective sheets, and parent/teacher conferences.
    4. opportunities for regular meetings to formulate suggestions, share experiences with other parents and participate as appropriate in decisions relating to the education of their children through PTO meetings, School Improvement Committee meetings, and School Advisory council meetings.
    5. at least one scheduled conference between individual parents and teachers each year;
    6. requiring all parents, students and teachers to sign a promise of commitment to affirm their responsibilities as a team in accordance with the Georgetown County Board of Education Policy JF-E (1);
    7. reports that are sent home to each child’s parent(s) on the child’s progress at the end of each grading period;
    8. providing training for parents on how to help their children academically.
    9. providing information, programs and activities for parents in a language and form that they can understand.
  5. Coordinate and integrate parent involvement with other programs such as

    Head Start, the Parents as Teachers Program, the Home Instruction Program for Preschool youngsters, and State-run programs through quarterly meetings/newsletters.

  6. Pleasant Hill Elementary School, with the involvement of parents, will conduct an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the parental involvement policy to determine:
    1. the effectiveness as to increasing parent participation; and
    2. barriers to participation as noted in section 1118 of the law.
  7. Involve parents in the activities of Pleasant Hill Elementary School served under this part.
  8. Pleasant Hill Elementary will provide parents the opportunity to submit comments relating to the Parent Involvement Plan. Pleasant Hill Elementary School will use such findings to design strategies for school improvement and revise, if necessary the school parental involvement policy.
